And it is with great surprise that the duo is joined by Wout van Aert… who also has a puncture problem.
The Jumbo-Visma rider then looks for a pump to solve his problem, which an English fan who was in the area hands him. “Wout, you are a legend”, slips the supporter. To thank the man for helping him out, van Aert then decides to offer him something in return. “Take off my green jersey, it’s yours,” says Michele, who draws a great lesson from this experience: “Be the first to pass a pump to Wout van Aert, he could give you a crazy gift in return!” »
Van Aert himself returned to this episode on social networks. “Mechanical problem in the descent of the Col de Granon”, he wrote. “Fortunately, my tubeless tires did their job. I swapped my green podium jersey with an unknown supporter for some life-saving air. Today was a good day. »
