Who said Final Fantasy 14 was dead? While the massively multiplayer role-playing game is gradually preparing to receive a new expansion, a Japanese player has just accomplished the feat of unlocking the game’s more than 2,000 trophies. A record as impressive as it is worrying.
An absolutely insane feat
There are players who are just looking to have fun. There are those who want to finish the main story, those who want to complete the secondary challenges, those who are looking for a bit of challenge… And then there are the players who play to fill the list of trophies offered by the title. And if it is generally a few dozen more or less tedious objectives to complete, the trophies of Final Fantasy XIV do not play in the same category.
In massively multiplayer role-playing games like Final Fantasy XIV, World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2, it is not uncommon for the list of trophies to be a little larger than for more classic games. Generally we are talking about a few hundred challenges, and if some hide some more or less interesting rewards (titles, mounts, etc.), most only serve to guide the player through the immensity of things to do. In Final Fantasy XIV, however, there are precisely 2751 achievements to achieve. And a Japanese player has just achieved the feat of completing this list of objectives.
It was thanks to a Reddit user that the information was noted: a Japanese player has become the one and only Final Fantasy XIV player to complete all of the game’s achievements. The latter accomplished this feat on the server Garudaand the record was confirmed thanks to the hit tracking service Lalachievements. Among the successes in question, we note some great exploits that are sometimes very time-consuming, such as fishing all the types of fish in the game or even bordering on feasibility, such as completing the three Bottomless Dungeons solo. Suffice to say that it is not likely to have much competition in the future.
Final Fantasy 14 continues on its way
If the player who has just completed all the achievements in the game is afraid of not knowing what to do after this record which must certainly have taken him several years of playing, rest assured, he will soon have new challenges to take on! Indeed, Final Fantasy XIV announced a few months ago that the massively multiplayer role-playing game will soon welcome its fifth expansion: Dawntrail.
Thanks to this new extension, players will be able to access a new zone with a predominantly tropical biome called Tural. Obviously, you will also have to expect a new capital, new game zones, new allies and above all a new story, in addition to being able to push the maximum level limit a little further. According to the official PlayStation blog, the Dawntrail extension should allow you to take advantage of all these new features:
The New World, Tural, and its capital, Tuliyollal. New areas, including Urqopacha Mountain and Yak T’el Forest. New allied tribes, including the Pelupelu, who wear very recognizable masks and live on Urqopacha. The increase in level cap from 90 to 100. New jobs. New combat content including hazards, hunts, treasure hunts and side quests. New dungeons. New threats, including Valigarmanda. An update update to the reinforcement system. New equipment and new recipes. New casual content galore. New branching dungeons, new alliance raids, 8-player raids and fatal raids. A PvP update. Constant content updates, including a Blue Mages update, new and ever more mysterious Hildibrand quests, new plans for the Bottomless Dungeons, and a Gold Saucer update.
You will have understood, Final Fantasy XIV intends to pull out all the stops during this revival of the game. As a reminder, this extension is expected for summer 2024, but the game will be updated regularly until then to accommodate it little by little. Obviously, all these new features will also be accompanied by new achievements, which should give our Japanese player some work.
