Ralf Schumacher believes that some personal reasons prevented Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko from taking Mick Schumacher to AlphaTauri when a replacement for Pierre Gasly was needed.
Ralf Schumacher: “Team leader Franz Tost initially wanted another driver, because he knew that the pilots need two to three years to get comfortable. Mick was available, his invitation to the team was justified, but then appeared Helmut Marko, who, for personal or some other reasons, chose Nick de Vries.
Marco seems to have problems with the last name Schumacher. Personally, I always communicated well with him, but he apparently has some problems with Mick, otherwise I don’t understand why he did it that way. To be honest, I don’t see anyone else who could fit into the team at that moment.”
