Are liberal nurses the forgotten ones of the health crisis? United in the Angry Liberal Nurses collective, they are calling for a mobilization on March 19 in order to make their voices and demands heard.
The non-union collective already brings together more than 10,000 nurses and a petition was launched on January 21 for the Minister of Health, Frédéric Valletoux. A general feeling of fed up is growing in a profession which feels neglected and which launches an appeal to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron in an open letter.

Unworthy remuneration
The year 2009 was that of the last revaluation of nursing procedures, which have not seen an increase since. The intervention of private nurses is mainly carried out in patients’ homes and their travel allowance has remained stuck at 2.50 euros for more than ten years, while it is 4 euros for physiotherapists and 10 euros for doctors. .
But all of their actions are underpaid, such as taking blood, billed at 8.83 euros gross at home, compared to 6.08 euros at the office. The 120,000 self-employed nurses, without whom the city medical machine could not function, painfully earn 12 euros per hour by visiting no less than four patients in this period of time. The race for turnover forces them to follow a frenetic pace and to accumulate hours well beyond the regulatory thirty-five in order to earn a decent income from their activity.

Doctors and physiotherapists too
Nurses are not the only ones to make their voices heard, doctors are currently negotiating with the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam) with a view to signing a new agreement. In the event of failure, they threaten to withdraw en masse, which would have serious repercussions on access to care.
The negotiation continues in a tense climate and the positions of the different actors are struggling to find a point of agreement. Doctors’ unions denounce excessive demands in return for the increase in the price of the consultation which could ultimately reach 30 euros.

François Randazzo, president of Alizé, fears the closure of many practices unable to cope with the explosion in costs which has led to a drop of 10% on average in the profits of physiotherapists.
In addition, a new nomenclature has been applied since February 22 and increases the administrative burden on private practitioners. It is denounced by the SNMKR union, which urgently demands administrative simplification in accordance with the speech of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
The rag is burning between liberal health professionals and Social Security. The protest movement could take on unprecedented proportions if all the actors were to pool their anger. The equation seems difficult to resolve at a time when Bercy is looking for billions to save while the health system is exhausted.
