After the early onset of winter down to low altitudes in Austria and Germany, it quickly became clear to many: global warming had been refuted, and the warnings of countless researchers had been exposed as a “climate lie” – the defamatory term used in certain circles. Hashtags such as #climateterrorism and #climatehysteria quickly made the rounds on social media alongside images of landscapes covered in deep snow. Dubious jokes that there would “never be any more snow” were among the more harmless posts.
