Michel Der Zakarian returned to coach French football in Montpellier, which he previously supervised between 2017 and 2021, to succeed Roman Beto, the “article” due to poor results.
Montpellier decided to let go of Beto a few months after he took over, succeeding Olivier Daloglio last October.
Montpellier gave up Beto, after being satisfied with two wins in 12 matches, including losing to a second-division team in the local cup competition.
Dir Zakarian, 59, returns to a team languishing in fifteenth place after 22 stages, just two points away from the relegation zone to the second division.
The first task of the coach, who defended the colors of Montpellier as a player between 1988 and 1997, and also supervised the age teams in it between 1998 and 2006, will be “Sunday” in a revenge confrontation with Brest, who dismissed him from his position on October 11.
Der Zakarian hopes to repeat the results he achieved in his previous passage with Montpellier, as the latter finished all four seasons under his leadership in the top ten, and was even close to continental participation in 2019 after finishing the season in sixth place.
