Through social networks, Will Smith broke his silence and referred to the controversial attack that led to Chris Rock last night at the ceremony Oscar Awards 2022.
“Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at the Academy Awards last night was unacceptable and inexcusable. Pranks at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me and I reacted emotionally,” he said.
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am ashamed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,” he added.
“I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, everyone in attendance and everyone who watched it around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams family and my King Richard family. I deeply regret that my behavior has tarnished what has been a wonderful journey for all of us. I am a work in progress,” she noted at the end of the message.
Since last night, after his controversial intervention in the ceremony organized by the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts, the actor had opted for silence. After the ceremony at the Dolby Theater, he was festive at the party after the event, although without making any statements until now.

According to a public statement issued this Monday from the agency, the Academy has already launched an investigation into the events that occurred in the Dolby Theater which could have direct consequences for Smith.
“We have officially begun a formal review of the incident and will explore further actions and consequences in accordance with our statutes, standards of conduct, and California law,” they said.
In this sense, they indicated, the recent Oscar winner could receive a harsh disciplinary sanction within the next few days. “We are categorically opposed to any form of abuse or aggression”they added.
