Windhager: What happens after bankruptcy?

After the opening of three insolvency proceedings for the Windhager Group in Salzburg, the insolvency administrators have started their work. On Tuesday, employees were informed about the status of things at a works meeting. You no longer received any December wages.

The main thing that needs to be clarified is what will happen to the company in the coming months. Are you concentrating again on the core business with boilers? If so, would that mean that the large heat pump plant in Pinsdorf, which became significantly more expensive than expected, was a contributing factor to the bankruptcy and is almost finished, would be sold?

It is also unclear whether anyone is interested in taking over Windhager in whole or in part. Windhager currently belongs to the Hathor Private Foundation, which was set up by Gernot Windhager. Until recently, he acted with Stefan Gubi as managing director of the group of companies.

According to reports, there are several interested parties. It remains to be seen whether these are competitors or financial investors. The fact is that a number of competitors currently have enough capacity and have recently created it, all of which are not being utilized to capacity. Windhager could be interesting for financial investors because the announced public funding for heating replacement in Austria and Germany could lead to a significant increase in demand from the middle of the year.
