Microsoft (Microsoft) issued an important notice last Friday (28th), announcing that the Windows 10 operating system support life cycle will end on October 14, 2025, and encourages all users to upgrade to the Windows 11 operating system as soon as possible. In addition, Microsoft stopped the download and sales of Windows 10 digital version in January this year. Obviously, it has focused more on Windows 11 and Windows 12, which is expected to be launched in 2024.

It is reported that Windows 10 was launched in 2015 and has undergone several rounds of feature updates so far, from the original Build 10240 (RTM) to the current Build 19045. The current 22H2 version (Build 19045) will bring Windows 10 to an end, but Microsoft promises to continue to provide monthly security updates for Windows 10.

As the life cycle is coming to an end, the 22H2 version hardly brings any substantial functional changes, and only focuses on BUG repairs, stability improvements, etc., so there have been many speculations about it being the final official version of Windows 10. Microsoft also recommends that Windows 10 users upgrade to the Windows 11 version immediately, but if users must keep using this version, they also call on users to update to the final version 22H2 to ensure that they can continue to receive monthly security update notifications before the end of support.

According to third-party data, Windows 10 still has more than 70% of the global market share. Microsoft has always hoped that users will transfer to Windows 11 and prepare for the future Windows 12, so it stopped selling Windows 10 download version in February this year.
