Wine on beer or beer on wine, does the order limit the hangover?

Aged between 19 and 40, the guinea pigs were first offered a meal and then separated into three groups. The first had drunk two and a half pints of lager followed by four tall glasses of white wine. The second had swallowed the same thing, but in the opposite direction. The third had only drunk wine or beer, but reached the same blood alcohol level as the other two groups.

All along this experiment, the participants had to answer questionnaires about how they felt. Once they had gone to bed, they had all been given a glass of water, filled according to their body weight. When they wake up, a new burst of questions, this time about their hangover. The factors assessed were thirst, fatigue, loss of appetite, headaches and stomach aches, dizziness, nausea and increased heart rate.
