Are you curious who saved you in his or her contact list? Unfortunately, WhatsApp does not yet have a clear list or option that will tell you right away. But you can still find out which of your contacts saved your number using the broadcast feature. In the following we will show you how to do this for Apple and Android devices.
How it works with Apple devices:
Using the broadcast function, you can not only send a message to multiple contacts at the same time, but also check who has you in their WhatsApp contact list. It’s easy with these steps:
In WhatsApp, under “Chats” in the top left of the screen, you’ll find the “Broadcasts” option. Click on it and then tap on “New list”. Under “Recipients”, select one of your contacts who you know has saved your phone number. Now add another contact to the list that you want to know about to see if they have your number. Tap “Create” in the top-right bar. Your broadcast will now be created on WhatsApp and a corresponding chat page will open. Compose a test message and send it to the people you have already selected. Wait 2-3 hours to give contacts enough time to read your sent message. You can then use the info button to check the status of your message. More on this below. If your contact is listed under “Read by”, then it seems that he actually saved your cell phone number. However, if the person appears under “Delivered to,” then they most likely don’t have you in their contact list, so they won’t be able to see your message.
When checking your sent message, keep in mind that some people are rarely active on WhatsApp. It may then take them longer to read a message than others.
How to do it with Android devices:
If you have an Android device, you can find out who saved you in his or her contact list with these 8 simple steps:
Open WhatsApp and under “Chats” click on the three dots at the top right of the screen. From the drop down menu select “New Broadcast” which should now open a list of your contacts. Select at least one of your contacts from which you know they saved your phone number. Now add any other contacts you want to know if they also have your number. Tap the checkmark in the green circle in the lower-right corner. A broadcast will now be created and the associated chat page opened.Compose a test message and send it to the contacts you have already selected – simply click on the send button.Wait 2 to 3 hours so that the people have enough time to receive your message read. You can then use the info button to check the status of your sent message. More on that below. If your contact is listed under “Read by”, it appears that they have saved your cell phone number. However, if the person appears under “Delivered to,” then they most likely don’t have you in their contact list and can’t see your message.
This is how you can find out if and when your WhatsApp message was read
You have probably noticed the ticks at the bottom right of a message on WhatsApp: they symbolize whether your message has arrived and been read by the recipient. You can find out what the colors of the WhatsApp ticks mean here. However, if you want to find out when exactly your message was delivered and read, you can actually do that using the info button. We will tell you below how this works.
With Apple devices, there are 2 ways you can find out the message info on WhatsApp:
Swipe your sent message from right to left to find out when it was delivered and read by the other person. Alternatively, tap the relevant message and wait for a pop-up menu to appear. Under the “About” option you can now find out when the message was received and seen.
If you have an Android device, you need to tap and hold your sent message until a menu pops up. Click on the three dots and then tap on “About” at the top right of the screen. Now you can see if and when your message was received and read.
Note that in private chats, this information is only visible if the contact has read receipts enabled. In group chats and in the broadcast, on the other hand, you can find out the information from all recipients.
