WKO Launches 10th Best Apprenticeship Award for Austrian Installation Companies

The Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO) has launched the call for entries for the 10th State Prize for “Best Apprenticeship Companies” in the sanitary, heating, and ventilation technology sectors. Austrian installation companies have until March 31, 2027, to apply for the award, which recognizes excellence in dual vocational training. The competition seeks companies that contribute to skilled workforce development through innovative ideas, dedicated instructors, and successful training initiatives.

Submit Good-Practice Examples for Several Categories and Prizes

Participants can submit concrete “good-practice” examples demonstrating how apprentices are supported and prepared for their professional futures. Submissions are divided into several main categories, including:

  • Apprenticeship profession marketing, recruitment, and employer branding
  • Training initiatives for companies with up to 35 apprentices
  • Training initiatives for companies with more than 35 apprentices

In addition to these main categories, two special prizes will be awarded. The “Instructors in Focus” special prize honors individuals who take daily responsibility for training young people, while the “Apprentice Reels: Training Up Close” prize allows apprentices to creatively present their daily work and profession through short video clips.

The State Prize Challenge

To mark its 10th anniversary, the competition is being conducted for the first time as a “State Prize Challenge” under the motto “Together we make excellent apprenticeship training visible.” During the submission phase, participating companies will receive additional support through impulses, jury tips, and live Q&A sessions. This challenge is designed to help companies reflect on their training work and develop content for their own apprenticeship marketing alongside their apprentices.

Apply with Project Documentation and a Short Video

The application process requires a compact project documentation and a short video. The entries must focus on the measures implemented and the specific positive impacts these had on the apprentices. The State Prize is awarded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism, with the Austrian Economic Chamber serving as a partner.
