Wojciech Mann in Kanał Zero. What did he say about the new TVP?

Wojciech Mann is known to the public, primarily as a presenter of Radio Trójka and as a host, together with Krzysztof Materna, of satirical programs, including: “MdM” on TVP. Until 2012, he also ran “Szansa na dziennik”. He started his career on Polish Television in the 1970s.

After the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, dismissed the presidents of Telewizja Polska, Polish Radio and the Polish Press Agency in December, Wojciech Mann commented on the sudden changes in TVP. In an interview with Onet, the journalist then wondered whether “the current authorities, i.e. the former opposition, would not be tempted to adopt stupid solutions that were used by the Law and Justice authorities.” “If they manage to keep the balance, it will be perfect,” he said. – Now the new television authorities will have a really difficult job of holding accountable the employees who have been doing these propaganda things over the last few years. Because it won’t just be a mechanical movement of pieces, but we will work with the mentality, decency of these people, and their sense of self. I don’t want to use high-flown words like “journalistic mission”, but control of these people who gradually displaced these corrupt and corrupt employees. And that can be really difficult, Mann added.

Wojciech Mann in Kanał Zero. Holds the new authorities accountable TVP: Propaganda

Now Wojciech Mann was a guest at Kanał Zero. The journalist, famous for his dislike of PiS, emphasized in a conversation with Krzysztof Stanowski that he did not like both the previous and the current government on public television. He did not deny Stanowski’s suggestion that the new TVP team wants the television to remain party-oriented, although perhaps in a less obvious way.

– I have the impression that this is, I regret to say, a valid point, because these political conductors on all sides have somehow become convinced in this opinion that it is a very useful tool. Therefore, it will not be useful enough, it teaches and provides entertainment, but it needs to be filled with, as Wańkowicz once said, “a didactic stink”, let’s say propaganda – said Wojciech Mann.

“I am neither rightist nor leftist nor symmetrical”

At the same time, the journalist distanced himself from the suggestion that he identifies with a specific political option.

– I don’t paint myself in any color, I’m neither a leftist, nor a rightist, nor a symmetryist, I’m just a guy who doesn’t like shallow statements, fraud, theft, no matter who does it, said Wojciech Mann.
