Nagercoil: It is reported that a woman hanged herself in Kanyakumari while talking on a video call with her husband who was abroad. Gnanabhagya (33), a native of Kottaram in Kanyakumari district, died under mysterious circumstances. Her husband Senthil, who saw the footage of Jnanbhagya hanging herself in the bedroom, informed her relatives. By the time Gnanbhagya’s relatives came to know the information, they broke down the door and admitted him to the room.
Relatives alleged that the young woman committed suicide due to mental torture and suspicion of her husband. Gnanbhagya was a temporary employee in the Kottaram Panchayat office. Death was hanging from the fan with a saree. According to the complaint filed by the relatives, Senthil suspected that Gnanbhagya was having a secret relationship and Senthil expressed his dislike for Gnanbhagya interacting with other men. Relatives also alleged that Senthil used to quarrel with Gnanbhagya over this issue. Relatives say that the two fell in love and got married eight years ago and were against marrying Senthil.
A native of Kanyakumari Periyavila, Senthil was working in Singapore. He used to talk to his wife and children on video calls every day. Gnanbhagya was talking to Senthil on a video call after putting the two children to sleep as usual last Monday night. Senthil expressed doubt that someone was with his wife in the room. Senthil asked to show the entire scene of the room on camera. According to the report released by the local media, Senthil asked Gnanbhagya to bring the camera to places including the bedroom and show real-time footage.
Local media reported that Gnanbhagya committed suicide by using a saree on the fan in the bedroom without turning off the camera when Senthil was not ready to listen even after telling her several times that only she and her children were in the room. But some local media had reported that she used a saree in the fan to scare her husband and when the stool she was standing on slipped, the noose got stuck around her neck and Gnanbhagya died. But the police did not officially confirm this claim. The police informed that a case has been registered in the incident and the investigation is in progress.
