Women’s downhill training in Cervinia canceled again

The final training for the women’s downhill runs in the Alpine Ski World Cup in Cervinia has been canceled due to wind and the unfavorable forecast. Those responsible made the decision around six o’clock on Friday. Of the three test runs scheduled for the two Matterhorn descents on Saturday and Sunday (11.45 a.m./ORF 1), only one might take place.

On Thursday, the 65 starters experienced everything from occasional sunshine to light gusts to light snow and wind. The result with the three Austrians Christina Ager, Emily Schöpf and Christine Scheyer in the top four is therefore not very meaningful for the races.

The weather forecasts for the weekend leave a lot open, but at least the holding of a race does not seem unlikely. With six downhill runs canceled in a row last fall and this fall, it would be the long-awaited premiere by the organizers.
