New Delhi: Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan says that he is not trying to remain a liability in the team, but to be an asset. Shikhar Dhawan’s words come as he approaches his 37th birthday.

I am a calm and mature person. My performance is a reflection of my experience. As long as I play for India, I try to be an asset to the team. I am very strong in basics. I am working hard to improve my techniques. Having a clear understanding of what the ODI format is also helps me, says Shikhar Dhawan.

“I don’t let the thought come in that I’m only playing for one day. There is no place for thoughts like whether my body will be good enough to excel in international cricket. If the match comes after a gap of two to three months, it gives me a chance to play with full fitness. It gets me enough time.”

One format is played for India but they will try to bring out the best in that one format. I am a very positive thinking person. You cannot find any negative movement in my body, says Shikhar Dhawan.
