The market for digital nomads, professionals who work in the online environment, is growing all over the world and has positive prospects. According to the Global Report on Migration Trends 2022, carried out by Fragomena company specializing in worldwide immigration services, 35 million people already work through this modality worldwide, a number that could reach one billion in 2035.

At the same time, a study of MBA Partnersan American consultancy, showed that the number of digital nomads in the US has increased by 131% since 2019. In 2022, the year in which the survey was carried out, 16.9 million workers in the country declared themselves as workers in this modality – an increase of 9 % compared to 2021.

In the view of Igor Ivanovsky, CEO of Keep Nomad, digital nomadism is inevitable. “The new generations realized that it doesn’t make sense to live a standardized life, with defined schedules for everything and spend eight hours a day in a closed office room”.

For the businessman, young people understand that it is necessary to “work hard” to achieve personal and professional fulfillment, but they realized that it is possible to do this without geographic limitations, instead of having to work between four walls in a big city.

Ivanowsky says that when he started working online, he was traveling the world as a backpacker and his sole objective was to support his own trip with 10 dollars a day – which, at the time, represented about R$ 1,500 a month. “That paid for my room and board during my travels in Southeast Asia and India. Afterwards, I realized that the digital world is dynamic and the results are usually exponential”.

Today, according to Keep Nomad’s CEO, all of the company’s employees are digital nomads and the business even encourages its professionals to live anywhere in the world.

Several countries already offer specific visas for digital nomads, such as Argentina, USA (United Arab Emirates), Greece and Thailand, in addition to Brazil. In the country, the temporary visa VINE XIVregulated by the government on January 24, 2022, can be granted to “foreigners, without an employment relationship in Brazil, whose professional activity can be carried out remotely, called ‘digital nomad’”.

Nomadism requires specialization

The businessman points out that, to become a digital nomad, it is worth investing in a specialization in digital professions that are in high demand, such as web design, SEO (search engine optimization), paid traffic, design, social media, video editing and AI (Artificial Intelligence).

“Attentive to the need for specialization to work in the modality, Keep Nomad invested in an educational platform that offers seventeen courses ranging from zero to advanced level”, he says. “Among the plans for the future, we intend to leverage the company with the mission of accelerating the process of digital nomadism in the world. In addition, we are considering internationalizing the business and, of course, continuing to travel”, he concludes.
