Blizzard Entertainment teased World of Warcraft’s next major expansion, The Last Titan, during BlizzCon 2026, announcing a 2027 release date.
BlizzCon 2026 Teases The Last Titan as the Worldsoul Saga Finale
Blizzard revealed that The Last Titan will serve as the final act of the ongoing Worldsoul Saga. Slated to arrive in 2027, the expansion marks the 12th expansion for World of Warcraft and will put what developers describe as the war back in Warcraft,
according to executive producer and vice president Holly Longdale.
The brief teaser trailer shown during the opening ceremony directed player attention toward the Wyrmrest Temple in Northrend. In the footage, a colossal being steps into view before unleashing a massive, laser-like attack, pointing toward the titular entity players will eventually face.
Eclipse and the Final Confrontation in Midnight
Before reaching the climax promised in The Last Titan, players must first navigate the final chapter of the current expansion, Midnight. Blizzard announced that Eclipse will serve as the final chapter of Midnight, with a scheduled release in early 2027. A new cinematic trailer displayed during the event showed the void harbinger Xal’atath a toe’s length away
from her ultimate objective, opening the gate to Azeroth’s Worldsoul.
Game designer Ion Hazzikostas addressed the audience after the trailer, noting that after moving narrative pieces across the board in The War Within and Midnight, it’s all gas, no brakes
from this point forward. Hazzikostas also apologized for the initial scarcity of details regarding The Last Titan, explaining that Blizzard intends to withhold major plot specifics to avoid spoiling the catastrophic events of Midnight. More information on the 2027 expansion will arrive early next year.
Wrath of the Lich King Remix Joins the 2027 Roadmap
Alongside the retail expansions, Blizzard announced that Wrath of the Lich King will be the latest expansion to get World of Warcraft’s remix treatment, following previous events for Mists of Pandaria and Legion. These limited-time, in-game events allow players to spin up a level 1 character and speed through a condensed schedule of major patches and historical events.
Participants earn currency toward unique rewards such as cosmetics, mounts, and pets that transfer over to the regular game once the event concludes. The Lich King remix is scheduled to arrive during the summer of 2027, serving as a seasonal bridge that mirrors Northrend’s chilly atmosphere ahead of The Last Titan.
