BENGALURU: A 23-year-old man committed suicide in Karnataka by imitating the suicide scene from the Telugu film Arundhati. Renuka Prasad, a native of Tumakuru, Karnataka, died. According to the police, the young man must have seen this film at least 15 times.
The young man was obsessed with movies. He had dropped out in the 11th standard. Like the character in the movie, 20 liters of petrol was poured on the body and set on fire. Passers-by brought him to the hospital. He had 60 percent burns. He died the next day.
Relatives say that Renuka Prasad was a student who excelled in studies till class 10th. The police also said that the young man had already talked to his parents about imitating the suicide scenes in the movie Arundhati.
