Zelensky named the date when negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU should begin

He stated this following the summit of the Three Seas Initiative (Trimorya) in Vilnius on April 11, European Pravda reports.

Zelensky said that at the Trimariya summit he spoke about the need to reaffirm European unity.

“Every democratic nation in Europe that shares and defends the common values ​​of Europe and the Euro-Atlantic space deserves to be a member of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance. And this is a fact. This fact must be confirmed by real actions,” he explained.

“June is the time when it would be right to actually begin negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. Europe needs this signal of its own strength, so that Putin will not be tempted to think that Europe is showing weakness,” the head of state added.

Zelensky also called on NATO to send an invitation for membership to Ukraine, but did not specify when exactly this should happen.

“Putin wants to destroy us, in reality he wants to destroy Ukraine, and subsequently to subjugate all the other neighbors of Russia. And our life, our security simply has no real alternatives. And that is why there are no alternatives to inviting Ukraine to NATO. We need this invitation to the Alliance Ukraine, all our people, our soldiers deserve this,” he noted.
