Zheng Yubo Makes UK Debut at Snooker 900 Crucible Cup

Chinese cue sports star Zheng Yubo will make his UK debut at the Snooker 900 Crucible Cup on 24–25 November, joining a star-studded field featuring Ronnie O’Sullivan, reigning World Champion Wu Yize, and Neil Robertson at the Liber Win Arena in Reading, snooker900.tv reported.

  • Broadcast Value: Live streaming rights on Pluto TV are set to broadcast the event featuring Zheng following his domestic run.

From Heyball Dominance to the Snooker 900 Spotlight

The landmark announcement brings one of China’s most prolific cue sports names to British tables following his historic triumph at the inaugural Snooker 900 China event in Changsha earlier this month. Zheng has built his reputation primarily in pool, most notably claiming $740,000 at the Heyball Masters to secure the largest prize in the history of the game.

The transition to the fast-paced, high-pressure Snooker 900 format was smooth during his run through a 244-player field that included established professional snooker players. Zheng demonstrated that his world-class cueing ability could bridge disciplines before defeating professional player Jiang Jun 10–2 in the final to claim the inaugural title and approximately £30,000.

Tactical Demands of the 900-Second Format

The Crucible Cup presents a distinct tactical environment characterized by frames lasting just 900 seconds and a strict 20-second shot clock. This demanding temporal constraint rewards players capable of rapid break-building, high-percentage positional play, and immediate conversion of loose safety shots into decisive scoring opportunities.

Zheng noted the alignment between his natural tendencies and the ruleset, stating: “I really enjoy the attacking feel of Snooker 900 and I am really looking forward to taking part in this event.”

Chinese Qualifiers Lead to Crucible Cup Grand Final

Zheng’s appearance in Reading ties the development of Snooker 900 in China directly to the international field assembled for the Crucible Cup. The Changsha tournament marked the first of four qualifying events in the Chinese series designed to award spots at next year’s grand final, where the eventual winner will collect a top prize of 1 million RMB, roughly £100,000.

With one final participant yet to be named to complete the tournament bracket, organizers continue preparations for an event that highlights the growing international reach of the format.
