Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said he was “ready” to fight the proposed cage fight against Elon Musk, owner of the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.

And Zuckerberg announced, in a post on the new “Threads” application, that he proposed a date for the confrontation on August 26.

He wrote, “I am ready today … but he did not confirm that,” in response to a post by Musk, in which he claimed on the “X” platform that he was training “all day.”

The two have already been competing since July, following the launch of the social networking platform Threads.

In response to a question asked by a Threads user about whether the match had been agreed upon by both parties, Zuckerberg replied that this is more like “secured financing”, in a clear reference to a tweet that Musk had published in 2018 when he said the same thing about plans to transfer Tesla electric car company.

The deal never went through, leading to Musk paying a $20 million fine to the US Financial Markets Regulatory Authority, stepping down from his position as chairman of Tesla, as well as placing restrictions on what tweets he could publish related to the company.

Musk raised more doubts about the potential match, and said that “the exact date is still subject to constant change,” given that he needs surgery on his neck and upper back.

The two social media giants have been challenging each other over the past months, with Musk claiming on Sunday that their bout will be broadcast live on his X platform.

He said any proceeds from the fight would go to veterans’ charities.

In response to a question from a user on the “X” platform about the purpose of the fight, Musk replied: “It is a civilized form of war. Men love war.”

Zuckerberg also responded to the proposal to broadcast the fight on the “X” platform, saying: “Shouldn’t a more reliable platform be used that can actually raise money for charity?”

Zuckerberg and Musk have already been competing since July in the wake of the launch of the social networking platform Threads.

And it seems that the competition is fierce between them after the “Meta” company, which also owns the “Instagram” and “Facebook” applications, launched the “Threads” platform in early July, in a move that attracted within days more than 100 million users.

Despite this, Zuckerberg later said that the platform had lost more than half of its users by the end of last month.

The competing X platform has also been criticized on numerous occasions since Musk took over the company and made several changes, including forcing users to log in to view posts, as well as a mass layoff of employees in the company.

Musk had claimed in a post on the social media platform last June that he was “ready to fight the cage fight”, which usually involves a few rules.

Zuckerberg posted a screenshot of a phone screen displaying Musk’s tweet, bearing the words “Send me the location.” Musk replied, “Vegas Octagon.”

The Octagon is a competition mat and fenced area used for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fights in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Musk, 52, also wrote: “I can perform this wonderful movement that I call (walrus), which is to lie on top of my opponent and do nothing.” The walrus is a huge marine mammal that lives in the polar regions and is related to seals and has two tusks. two long.

He then posted videos of a walrus, which may indicate that his challenge to the Facebook founder may not have been entirely serious.

“I love this sport and I will continue to compete with people who train no matter what happens here,” Zuckerberg, a martial arts fan, said on Sunday.
