The expected transfer fee for national soccer team striker Cho Kyu-seong, who scored two goals against Ghana in the Qatar World Cup group stage, has soared by about 2.6 billion won in one year.
Transfermarkt, a European football media outlet, announced an estimate of the transfer fee of major players who played an active part in the World Cup, and Cho Kyu-sung’s transfer fee was estimated at 2.5 million euros, or about 3.4 billion won.
In December of last year, a year ago, the expected transfer fee for Cho Kyu-sung was 600,000 euros, but it jumped to 1.9 million euros in one year.
As Cho Kyu-sung emerged as a surprise star through the World Cup, the number of social media followers, which was 20,000, is approaching 3 million, and there are reports that Turkey and the Scottish team are showing interest.
