20 creative children participate in the “Design and Ibn” program

Sharjah Children, which is affiliated with the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, concluded the “Design and Ibn” program, which is specialized in training participants in the craft of carpentry and design, which was held during the period from 13-18 August, with the participation of 20 children from the centers and the public within the age group. From 9-12 years old.

The program had two aspects; Theoretical and practical. During the theoretical side, the children learned the basics of the carpentry craft and the tools used in it, the art of decorating and designing home decorations, how to take measurements, in addition to the types of wood used and the method of painting.

As for the practical side; The participants were able to acquire new skills in improving and renovating used pieces of furniture, as they were trained in the method of drilling and cutting wood with its own tools, including: laser cutting, vinyl, and how to sand the old piece, improving and smoothing it; They were able to put their creative and innovative touches in terms of drawing and making aesthetic designs, then coloring and decorating them.

The children expressed their happiness to participate in the “Design and Ibn” program, where the child Saif Tariq Al-Naqbi said: “I learned new skills, such as how sanding works to cut wood or old furniture, improve it, and turn it into new pieces.”

As for the child, Hamdan Abdullah Ali; He talked about his project, saying: “I am happy that I was able to complete my own project, which is to update the old table to be usable again, by following the steps I learned in the program and adding my creative touches.”

It is worth noting that Sharjah Children aims through this program to teach children new skills such as the basics of carpentry and woodworking and its renewal, to enhance the spirit of creativity, innovation and competition among children, and to instill in them the spirit of cooperation and love of teamwork, in a safe and attractive environment that contributes to the refinement of and develop their skills.
