3 Hawker Centres to Close for Cleaning, AsiaOne Reports

Three hawker centres across Singapore will close for two to four days between Oct. 26 and Oct. 29 for scheduled deep-cleaning and maintenance work, AsiaOne reported.

The temporary shutdowns affect patrons and stallholders at Golden Mile Food Centre, Redhill Market at Block 79 Redhill Lane, and Redhill Food Centre at Block 85 Redhill Lane. The National Environment Agency stated that these regular cleaning exercises ensure Singaporeans can continue enjoying affordable meals in clean and hygienic environments.

Staggered Closures Across Golden Mile and Redhill

The operational pauses hit different locations on varied timelines through the final week of October. Golden Mile Food Centre remains shuttered for a four-day stretch from Oct. 26 to Oct. 29. Meanwhile, Redhill Market and Redhill Food Centre implement shorter two-day halts from Oct. 26 to Oct. 27.

Hawker Centre Closure Period Reason

Redhill Market (Redhill Lane Blk 79) Oct. 26 to 27 Cleaning

These temporary hygiene breaks form a routine part of Singapore’s maintenance programme for its 123 markets and hawker centres. Crews execute high-pressure washing and sanitation of common dining areas and stall facilities while customer traffic halts.
