The online travel agency Opodo (eDreams Odigeo group) observes an increase of more than 55% in searches for flights to Paris for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, compared to the same period (from January 1 to November 12) on the year 2023.
Americans are the first nationality to look for flights to Paris during this period, followed by the English, Spanish, Canadians and Italians. Among the cities hosting the Games (from July 26 to August 11, 2024), Paris (+55%), Lyon (+52%), Nice (+36%) and Marseille (+47%) are the most popular among foreign travelers for this event.
Next year, travelers are determined to discover new countries and new cultures and many are traveling to attend cultural and sporting events abroad. According to an IPSO study, Sports tourism is predicted to increase by 17.5% by 2030.
Paris is preparing to become the favorite destination for travelers in 2024, according to recent data from Opodo, since searches for flights to the French capital have increased by more than 55% compared to the same period in 2023. Another study which reflects the global enthusiasm for this major sporting event.
