A vehicle caught fire on Sunday morning in the Botanique tunnel after an accident. The driver was injured, Brussels firefighters said.
The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. “In circumstances yet to be established by the police, a car which was traveling on the surface found itself on the roof and on fire in the tunnel” in the direction of Basilique, said the firefighters.
In a video shared on social networks by the Brussels firefighters videographer, we see the car falling into the tunnel.
The driver was able to be extricated from his vehicle and taken to hospital. There are no other victims.
The Botanique tunnel had to be closed to traffic in both directions for around two hours, according to Brussels Mobility.
