A 12-year-old girl’s heartfelt cry on abortion in the United States: “Doesn’t my life matter to you?”

The United States Supreme Court recently overturned Roe v. Wade, ending 49 years of abortion rights throughout the United States. From now on, each State is free to regulate access to abortion as it wishes. This is the subject of this public hearing held in West Virginia this Wednesday, July 27.

Nearly a hundred people were thus able to express themselves about the bill on abortion. The latter makes no exception for rape or incest.

It is in this context that the moving testimony of a young teenager caught on and was widely shared on social networks. Adisson Gardner, 12, delivered a poignant message to the assembly, a real cry from the heart. “I go to college in Buffalo, I play volleyball and I race on the track. My education is very important to me, and I intend to do great things in life”she began. “If a man decides that I am an object, and he does unspeakable and tragic things to me, am I, a child, supposed to carry and give birth to another child? my body the physical trauma of pregnancy? Do I have to suffer the mental implications, me, a child who had no say in what was done with my body?”she asked.

“Some here say they are pro-life but what about my life? Doesn’t my life matter to you?”concluded Adisson, with the approval of several people present.
