A 6.1-magnitude earthquake in eastern Taiwan… “Worried about 4-5 aftershocks in the next five days”

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Hualien County in eastern Taiwan on the 9th, the Central Meteorological Administration said.

According to the Central News Agency, the earthquake struck a sea area 89.5 km east of the county office of Hualien County at 2:23 pm (3:23 Korean time) on the same day.

The epicenter is 24.01 degrees north latitude and 122.51 degrees east longitude, and the epicenter is 27.5 km deep.

After the main earthquake, the Central Meteorological Administration warned that aftershocks of magnitude 4-5 would continue for the next five days.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced that a magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred at 2:23 p.m. on the same day at 24.022 degrees north latitude and 122.501 degrees east longitude, and at an epicenter depth of 27.0 km.

There have been no reports or reports of damage to human life or property due to the earthquake.

As strong vibrations were felt in various parts of Taiwan, there is concern about the damage. In the capital, Taipei, the subway was slowing down, and in southern Kaohsiung, there was a power outage.
