The Lyon hospital center denounced the posting of a hostile message to unvaccinated patients, calling on them not to seek intensive care.
A poster hostile to patients not vaccinated against Covid-19 was discovered on the storefront of Saint-Joseph Saint-Luc hospital in Lyon, Thursday, January 6. The hospital is not at the origin of this text, which enjoins the unvaccinated not to seek intensive care. A photograph of the poster was posted on social media, causing confusion.
False communication
The poster is sober, and seems serious at first glance. It is aimed at the unvaccinated, and their request “tell the reception team that, in accordance with your convictions, you do not want intensive care in the event of overloading the emergency services”. A provocative message in a context of tensions in the emergency services, but also a false communication aimed at confusing the hospital’s position on this subject.
The poster was withdrawn as soon as it was spotted by the services of the hospital center, but its photograph had time to appear and be distributed on social networks. The hospital therefore communicated to deny being the author, and recalled that“By virtue of its public service mission and its ethical commitment, the establishment takes care of all patients unconditionally”.
“It can come from anyone”
An internal investigation was undertaken to try to find out whether the author could be an employee of the hospital. “The poster was stuck on the outside of the building, so it could come from anyone”, let the communication department of the hospital know. “Moreover, the poster does not take up the usual charter of our communications “, specifies a member of the service. It is therefore a hostile act towards the unvaccinated and aimed at creating confusion.
On Twitter, Internet users reacting without delay, were quick to interpret the poster as being an official communication from the hospital center, others evoked their intention to file a complaint. According to the Saint Joseph Saint Luc hospital, conspiratorial groups in turn shared the photograph. A coup de com ‘polemic, while the cleavage between vaccinated and unvaccinated against Covid-19 will undoubtedly never have been so pronounced.
