Around midnight last night, a Luxembourg motorist was on the E42 to pick up her son at Charleroi airport. At Fleurus, she felt unwell and hit the central safety rail head-on at the intersection with the R3. His vehicle ended up across the lanes on the exit ramp.
Two passing motorists were able to stop, call for help and evacuate the driver who was in the middle of the highway. Supported by the emergency services, the victim was transported to the Notre-Dame de Grâce hospital in Gosselies.
The road police (WPR Marcinelle) took charge of the report, the ramp of the R3 was closed for half an hour.
