A new program for the reform of our health system

Emblem of the social creativity of France, in the 60s and 70s, the management of the health of our fellow citizens, long given as an example throughout the world, has continued to deteriorate for 20 years. Inexorably…

The causes are multiple, as are the responsibilities.

This multiplicity, never approached in a global way, gave birth to a multitude of mini-reforms most of the time deleterious because never imagined in a global way. Curiously, although at all levels of the care pathway the alarm signal has been sounded for years, the debate has remained walled up in avenue de Ségur, with each minister going there with his reform.

The situation is tragic, however, for ALL French people, since it is written that, given the improvement in our living conditions, we will probably all be confronted, one day in our lives, with a failing emergency, incomplete care too late or too long and exhausted health professionals.

However, the daily greeting of all French people, the “how are you?” clearly illustrates the primary importance of our concern: health.

To look at the health system is to observe a conscientiously tangled ball of yarn for which one does not know which end to begin with. The debate did not take place, both for the presidential elections and the legislative ones, largely because it is not a question of a debate but of a multitude of very technical and precise debates, which no one dares approach as the entry points are numerous and often “inhospitable”.
However, this debate must take place. It will take time and will have to address everything…

This is why the drafting of Medical Frequency and Why Doctor have decided to launch it thanks to a regular program, “La Santé en Questions”, hosted by Drs Jean-Paul Ortiz (who is definitely leaving his CSMF caquette) and Jean-François The monk.

The program will always end with a “statement”, a declaration to form the basis of this essential reform.

The elections failed to initiate the necessary debate to seriously discuss health reform and define its main outlines. Yet this is the expectation of an entire country… The debate takes place in a disorganized way, each party in its own corner, and no serious and above all complete synthesis is achieved. But we know that a global discussion will be needed to harm no one… and put an end to fragmented projects.

The producers of the show have defined, in the preamble, dozens of essential practical questions which deal with almost all the specific problems and needs: numerus clausus, installation, feminization of the profession, recourse to foreign doctors, new status of general medicine, remuneration, medical deserts for liberal medicine; the public hospital with its services which are becoming empty, its emergencies which are closing, its health professionals who are looking elsewhere; the role of pharmacists, the tragedy of disgusted nurses when most are there by vocation; the vaccine fracture… the administrative fed up…

We have defined the important themes each requiring a complete broadcast. A vast task that will occupy us for months, but from which immediately applicable solutions will have to arise.

Each question will be addressed in the form of a debate with the most competent personalities on the subject. The reputation of our media and our presenters confirms that the quality of the experts on set will guarantee the effectiveness and impact of this initiative.

The first edition, broadcast on June 30, with an obvious theme:

120 emergency services forced to limit their activity, 20% of the 620 private or public establishments and 60% of the departments affected; the emergencies closed in a certain number of cities, the Rennes University Hospital which is talking about closing its own this summer… “Emergencies, what an emergency”.

One could however think that this will be the first project of the new government, and yet…

The President has decided that this will be the first project of the reform and while the avenue de Ségur does not yet know its minister, has appointed a trusted man, Doctor François Braun, at the head of a so-called “Flash to respond as quickly as possible to the emergency crisis.

What he will do on our set after several weeks of consultation and reflection…
