Tuesday, early evening, help was requested because a person had just been hit by a train at the level crossing of rue du Pont de Wandre (RN667) in Wandre.
Despite the intervention of the emergency services, there was nothing more to do for the unfortunate victim who had died on the spot.
Rail traffic was interrupted on line 40 between Bressoux and Visé.
According to the first information available, “the person tried to cross the tracks despite the fact that the barriers were down,” said Jessica Nibelle, spokesperson for Infrabel.
The freight train remained immobilized on the Wandre level crossing for several hours so that the police could make the usual findings and so that the body could be removed. The Liège public prosecutor’s office has been notified of the facts
The services of Infrabel, the rail infrastructure manager, were also present on the scene.
