The Central Bank of Egypt announced its adoption of a flexible exchange rate system for the Egyptian currency, the pound, explaining that the exchange rate of the value of the Egyptian pound against other foreign currencies will be according to the forces of supply and demand.

The exchange rate of the US dollar in some Egyptian banks crossed a level close to 22.5 pounds, and in turn, the Saudi riyal crossed the barrier of six Egyptian pounds and ten piasters, rising more than 70 piasters in one go.
