Last November, Aldi opened its first “compact” store in Ixelles. “The situation in Brussels is not comparable to that of the rest of the country,” Geert de Roy, Senior Manager Expansion at Aldi, told us.

Now a second store of the same concept will be available at Terninckstraat, Antwerp, where a former Aldi has been transformed into a “compact”. The sales area is a total of 374 square meters, where fresh products will have the most important place.

“Fresh fruits and vegetables remain present in the first aisle and benefit from more space. In addition, customers can now visit Aldi Terninckstraat to find a nice assortment of quality fresh meat and a bakery area where brioches and cakes are baked several times a day. In short, everything is in place to make Aldi the ideal first store, a store where the customer can find everything they need on a daily basis,” Aldi explains to Gondola.
