On Thursday, Nina Ortlieb and Johannes Strolz prevailed in Hinterstoder. For both it was the first success in this discipline at the domestic championships. Strolz was 0.19 seconds ahead of Stefan Babinsky, Vice World Champion Ortlieb left Sabrina Maier behind by 0.14 seconds.
“After this difficult World Cup season, the Austrian championship title in the downhill feels very good,” said combined Olympic champion Strolz, who had no fewer than six failures in his main discipline slalom this winter at World Cup level. His best result was a twelfth place in Wengen.
