Major airline All Nippon Airways has accidentally sold hundreds of tickets at a huge discount due to a technical glitch. According to a Bloomberg report, passengers were able to book round-trip first-class tickets from Jakarta to the Caribbean island for around 73,000 rupiah ($890). The ticket was obtained at such a low price where these tickets usually cost almost 20 times more.
According to reports, passengers were able to get business class tickets priced at $10,000 (roughly Rs. 8.21 lakh) at a discount of up to $300 (roughly Rs. 25,000). Meanwhile, All Nippon Airways has yet to reveal how many customers have been sold tickets at such a discount.

A spokesperson of All Nippon Airline clarified that all discount tickets can be used by the users. But the carrier later said no final decision had been made. According to reports, a decision will be made by the end of this month. All Nippon Airways explained that the discounted tickets will be valid for passengers traveling until the decision is finalized.
ANA attributed the currency conversion error to an error on the Vietnam website. Airline spokespersons said they would investigate the reason behind the error.
However, this is not the first time that airlines have faced such a technical error. In 2019, an airline called Cathy Pacific sold nearly one and a half lakh tickets for a price of Rs 65,000 on a Vietnam-US trip. In 2014, Singapore Airways also had to sell tickets at half price due to a technical error like this. In 2015, United Airlines also suffered a ticketing error on a transatlantic flight.
