Bad news from Ukraine, a transatlantic dispute on the open stage and a lukewarm performance by the Chancellor. If things continue like this, the West will have poor chances.
ZAt the Munich Security Conference, the Russian side managed to achieve successes on several fronts, all of which are very painful for the Western community of states. While the same perseverance phrases as last year were recited on the main stage in the Bayerischer Hof, a mixture of anger and desperation spread at many other events.
On the Ukrainian front, Ukraine had to admit that the long-contested town of Avdiivka could no longer be held and announced the withdrawal of its badly battered battalions. The news of the death of state prisoner Alexei Navalnyi had the effect of an ordered murder in Moscow’s hybrid war on the gathering of dozens of heads of state and government, politicians and military officers.
