A storm swept across large parts of Austria on Friday night. Above all, gusts of wind, which knocked down trees, among other things, kept the fire brigades on their toes. There was also heavy rain, which caused local flooding and triggered landslides and landslides.
The fire brigades in Upper Austria alone reported around 130 operations when the front coming from Bavaria and Salzburg caused a lot of damage around midnight. The first emergency calls came in every minute from the Braunau district to the state warning center. It was reinforced with additional personnel. At 1:00 a.m., around 80 fire brigades were already on duty.
Storm gusts of up to 130 km/h caused numerous trees to fall on roads and power lines. Roofs were covered. Vehicles were also overturned. There were also floods and fires in electrical systems.

Up to 100 km/h were measured in Vorarlberg on Thursday evening. The fire brigade had to be called out 42 times, mostly to remove fallen trees. The Lake Constance and Unterland communities were particularly affected. In several communities, construction fences were blown through the air and traffic signs were buckled.
Shortly after 7 p.m., a strong wind warning was issued for Lake Constance, which was intensified an hour later and turned into a storm warning. Two boats were in danger, one of them – in the Fußacher bay – because it was no longer tight.
Due to repair work on the overhead line on the German side, rail traffic between Lochau-Hörbranz (Bregenz district) and Lindau (Bavaria) was also affected. There were train cancellations, for example the ECE connections between Munich and Zurich were affected. The work should be finished before noon.
Thunderstorms with heavy rain led to local mudslides and landslides in East Tyrol on Thursday. The Drautal federal road (B 100), the Pustertaler Höhenstraße (L 324) and the St. Justina Straße (L 388) were affected, according to the Tyrolean police.
