At least three trucks were burned in Loncoche

Carabineros personnel investigate an attack registered during the afternoon of this Friday on the road that connects the sectors of La Paz and Molco, in the commune of Loncochein the Region of La Araucanía.

According to preliminary information, three trucks, a van and machinery were affected as a result of the attack.

René Muñozrepresentative of the Association of Forestry Contractors, pointed out tonight that “terrorist violence is advancing towards the south. Today we have an attack in Loncoche with the destruction of forestry trucks and this is the 17th attack so far this month April, that is, we have more than one attack almost two days. The violence is increasing, it is spreading, it continues to affect forest production, work in the forest and without a doubt that complicates us greatly.“.

“We believe that the State, in this case the Government, has to make decisions, there are tools and you have to have the political will and the courage to make tough decisions which are what are required to stop, in some way, the advance of this violence towards the south of the country,” he said.

SHOOTING AT CARABINEERS OUTSIDE THE U. LA FRONTERA

On the other hand, around 50 hooded men fired long weapons at carabineros -although without hurting anyone- in the Experimental Center of the University of the Bordersubjects who also erected barricades in the sector, close to Padre las Casas.

Louis San Martindeputy commissioner of the Temuco PDI, pointed out that “subsequently, an undetermined group entered the university, trying to burn down a building that is inside, which did not manage to catch fire as a result of the fact that people managed to suffocate (the flames)”.

“Various ballistic evidence and some canvases and writings were found” at the scene, added the detective, indicating that said records will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Both events come at the end of a week in which acts of violence in the area have intensified, especially after the burning of 33 trucks in the commune of Los Álamos, in Biobío.
