The French food distributor Auchan, already present in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire, announced on Monday that it wanted to open a first store in Algeria in the fourth quarter of 2023, which will be managed by the local group Great Way, before a possible development “Across the country». «Before the end of the year, an Auchan-branded hypermarket will open its doors in Algiers over an area of 5,000 square meters.“, indicates Auchan in a joint press release with Great Way, which already operates in Algeria “80 world-renowned brand stores in the textile & sports sectors».

Algeria “becomes the 14th country in which Auchan is established in the world», and the 3rd in Africa after Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. In Senegal, where the brand of northern origin has been present since 2015, it “has 37 stores as well as a merchant site coupled with a drive-thru and a home delivery service».
