Vaduz (ots) – On Monday, September 4th, SD Hereditary Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein, representing SD Prince Hans-Adam II, received Federal Minister Karoline Edtstadler for the award ceremony at Vaduz Castle. The visit to Vaduz also included a working meeting with Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler and a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Daniel Risch. During their talks, Government Councilor Hasler and Federal Minister Edtstadler exchanged views on the European policy of the two neighboring countries.
Karoline Edtstadler has been Federal Minister for the EU and the Constitution in the Federal Chancellery since 2020. In this function, she made a great contribution to the cooperation between Liechtenstein and Austria within the framework of European integration. The honoree was awarded the Grand Cross of the Princely Liechtenstein Order of Merit for their services.
European policy dialogue promotes understanding of Liechtenstein concerns
As an EEA member, Liechtenstein participates equally in the EU internal market with its almost 450 million inhabitants, which is of great importance for the export-oriented Liechtenstein economy. However, European cooperation is also associated with certain challenges. The regular exchange with the EU member Austria on European policy issues is therefore particularly valuable. The two ministers discussed, among other things, cooperation in the EEA, EU enlargement, the war in Ukraine and other geopolitical issues. During the visit to the learning hub in Triesen, which aims to integrate Ukrainian children and young people into regular classes as quickly as possible, the Federal Minister was able to get an impression of the program and the situation in Liechtenstein.
The stay was rounded off by a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Daniel Risch and to Hilti AG.
