The death of a little girl has shaken a suburb of Augusta, Georgia. Seven-month-old Serenity Garnett was attacked by a dog on Tuesday and later succumbed to her injuries. Her great-grandmother had to watch everything and was injured herself.

The incident happened in the rented apartment of Serenity’s great-grandmother, according to the British newspaper “Independent”. The dog – a mix of American Bulldog and Great Pyrenees – suddenly attacked the girl and her great-grandmother. It belongs to the owner of the house in the village of Martinez.

The dog also injured the great-grandmother when she tried to pull the animal away from the little girl. The baby was bitten so badly that he succumbed to his injuries in hospital. “She didn’t have the strength to deal with the dog,” a neighbor told WJBF. The dog was very muscular.
