The MP also wishes to move forward on the issue of slaughter without stunning which has been banned in Wallonia since 2019 but which remains authorized in Brussels.
“In the Senate, several texts have just been tabled to include animal sensitivity in the constitution. One of these texts was tabled by the Ecolo party. I find that it is an ambiguous approach on their part: they do not want not put an end to slaughter without stunning in Brussels while they are in the majority but want to recognize the sensitivity of animals. For me, if we enshrine animal sensitivity by including it in the constitution, we must be consistent with ourselves -even and not just wanting to grease the paws of associations like Gaïa. For me, it is out of the question to support this text without having resolved the question of slaughter without stunning.”
