Payments for same-day settlement of third-party accounts that will be registered from Friday, March 29 to Monday, April 1, 2024, will have an execution date of Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Bank branches in Greece will remain open.
Greek banks have warned that, “due to the Catholic Easter holiday, debt payments and remittances that will be registered on Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1, will be executed on Tuesday, April 2, which is considered the next business day.”
Transfers within the same bank, despite being expected to be executed as normal, will have a value date of Tuesday 2 April.
Great attention should also be paid to the execution of payrolls, as Tuesday, April 2, should be entered in the payroll file as the execution date.
It is worth noting that on Friday March 29 and Monday April 1, the Athens Stock Exchange will also remain closed.
Catholic Easter falls this year on Sunday, March 31. It is a date determined by the Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox.
