Basketball: Gmunden goes into the BSL play-off as number one

The Upper Austrians won the direct and ultimately highly exciting duel with BC Vienna on Saturday evening at the end of the intermediate round 88:82 (52:36). They have thus secured the home advantage in any decisive games of the forthcoming “best-of-five” series up to the final. In the clash between the leading teams in the league, the Swans gave up an 18-point plus (67:49, 26th min.) in front of more than 1,400 spectators at Lake Traunsee and were down 70:71 within seven minutes. Cheered on by the fans, the Upper Austrians reared up again and were celebrated as the winners of the hit.

The best home team (14:2 wins) also inflicted the defending champions from Vienna their first away defeat of the season. BC Vienna had previously remained unbeaten abroad 15 times in a row. Last but not least, the top duel saw the home team win again for the first time after six wins by the respective guest.
