Be careful if you insist after the “click” of the pump when filling up: it’s useless and… dangerous!

It’s tempting. After hours of waiting in queues to access gas stations, motorists want to insist after hearing the famous little “click” which indicates that the vehicle’s tank is full. If we could add one or two liters like that … Except that in fact, it is not exact, report our colleagues from La Voix du Nord.

Questioned by Autoplus, managing director of the British company Select Car Leasing, Graham Conway had thus explained that this click is used precisely not to fill its tank to the brim. Thus even when the signal is ignored, the excess fuel is evacuated mechanically either to the pump or to the road. Conclusion: it is neither profitable (we will pay for gasoline that is not in the tank), nor secure because the road becomes slippery and the fuel, so scarce at the moment, is wasted.
