Hans wonders. The Belgian, originally from Alken in the province of Limburg, deposited money in the Bancontact Batopin cash point near his home. Except that the sum he deposited there has not completely arrived in his bank account.

“I put three 200 euro notes in the cash drawer. A refund notification appeared on the screen. I didn’t understand and wanted to take a picture of the report, but the message disappeared before I took my smartphone. A ticket came out. This indicated that I had deposited 200 euros, ”he explains to HBVL.

Since the incident happened outside office hours, Hans called his bank the next day. He was told a week later that the machine he put his money in had been scanned. And amazement: “Nothing indicated the difference of 400 euros”. A sum that he has therefore still not recovered.

For their part, Batopin defends himself and explains that the machine may not recognize a note because of its condition, a forgotten paperclip or rubber band: “The money cannot therefore be returned because the machine just don’t know how much money there is”.
