Blizzard Entertainment rolled out Overwatch Temporada 5 Una Doctrina Lúgubre, bringing a Halloween-themed atmosphere, a new support hero named Doctrine, major reworks for Roadhog and Sombra, a new escort map, and the return of past battle passes alongside cosmetic innovations such as Lúcio’s mythical weapon skin featuring a small dancing frog.
The update introduces significant shifts for the hero roster and game systems, led by Doctrine—an enigmatic support hero with a vampire-inspired theme whose background relates to the past of Doomfist and experiments with life force. Doctrine utilizes a scepter to heal allies and damage enemies, bat-shaped mechanical drones that provide healing and attack speed boosts, an Infusion ability to empower actions, and an ultimate capable of redistributing health advantages between both teams. Alongside this new character, Roadhog receives a rework featuring a new ability called Compactador de basura to absorb Projectiles like Sigma’s and convert received damage into an explosive shot, complemented by post-launch adjustments published on October 13 that increased his weapon’s central projectile damage and improved his self-healing. Meanwhile, Sombra transitions from damage to support, with abilities geared toward assisting teammates and weakening rivals.

The season adopts a darker identity characterized by supernatural elements and references to death, serving as a base to advance the Reino de Talon plotline. Doctrine’s mobility allows horizontal movement and flight capabilities, though learning to utilize Infusion at the right moment remains critical. Despite diverse healing resources, Doctrine is not designed to keep a tank alive continuously in the manner of specialized healers, and constant front-line exposure is discouraged. The premium battle pass features Halloween designs such as Ashe Fantasmabella and Mei Novia fantasma, epic skins like Bastion Esquelético, Brigitte Hora de las brujas and Symmetra Velo espectral, and a collaboration titled Overwatch x Shadow Monarch featuring Solo Leveling character looks. Additionally, the update incorporates Locura misteriosa: Juegos en el cementerio, a Halloween event combining elements from Héroes misteriosos, el Laboratorio de Junkenstein and Estadio.
