Cadem: 71% in favor of the new Constitution and 49% would put half of the experts chosen by Congress | National

71% agree with having a new Constitution, according to the latest Cadem survey. The measurement showed that 49% opt for a mixed formula: one half of elected constituents and the other made up of experts, who should be chosen by Congress. Finally, 42% believe that the new Magna Carta should be ready within 6 months.

According to the last survey Cadem Public Square, 71% agree that Chile needs a new Constitution, while 26% do not consider it necessary.

66% believe that the constituent process is a very or quite high priority; 15% say that it is a priority; and 18% express that it is little or no priority.

On the other hand, 48% of those surveyed prefer to write a complete Constitution; 42% choose to make reforms, but maintaining the current Magna Carta as a basis; and 8% say that Chile should stay with the current text, without making any changes.

As for the type of body that should draft the new constitution, 49% favor a mixed system: one half of its members elected by the citizens and the other made up of a committee of experts, chosen by Congress.

39% prefer a body elected entirely by the citizens, while 10% fully trust Congress to write the Fundamental Charter.

Cadem: deadlines to draft a new Constitution

Respondents also responded regarding the type of experts that the process should consider, if required.

Experts on constitutional issues (90%), academics (88%) and constitutional lawyers without political militancy (87%) They are the most popular.

They are followed by economists (84%), representatives of social organizations (72%) and union leaders (55%).

82% believe that the process should be carried out by fewer people, so the body should not exceed 100 members. On the other hand, 16% believe that the 155 constituents should be maintained.

Finally, 42% risk it for a period of 6 months to write the new Constitution. 38% believe that they should be the same 12 months and 19% bet on 3 months of work.

Boric disapproval reaches 60%

The disapproval of president Gabriel Boric reached 60%, according to the latest Cadem survey. This is one of his worst records since he took office on March 11.

The lowest figure was reached on July 1 (62%), just days after the completion of the Constitutional Convention.

On the other hand, 33% of those surveyed approve of the President’s managementwhich translates into two points less compared to the previous evaluation.
